Hey everyone today I thought I’d share some tips which I find help you get the most out of the year, as well as sharing my goals for 2019 with you all.

Tip 1 – Planners📚

If you haven’t already bought a diary or planner for the year go get one! I find planners make me so much more productive and there a great way to organise and record your progress. I have a planner for myself which is from CGD London and a planner for my two horses who are in work which are from Leroy and Bongo. I really feel that I got the most out of 2018 with my horses from using the planners from Leroy and Bongo. It’s great that you can look back at your results and comments for a certain day and see how you’ve improved. I managed to achieve all the goals I set for both horses thanks to these planners!

Tip 2 – Plan!📅

I like to plan competitions, training, ect in advance so I can be organised with what I need to do with my horses in upcoming weeks.

How I like to do this is by planning a month in advance so I can have a good look at Equestrian Centers event calendars. I write down all the events I’m interested in that month and then decide if I go depending on other factors.

Tip 3 – Set Goals🥅

Goal setting is one of the best ways to achieve what you want to achieve. Write down all you goals, big, small, steps to get to your goal anything! This way you remember your goals and can tick them off when you achieve each one.

If you like to set yourself challenges then you could add a date you want to achieve each goal by.

Tip 4 – Try Something New🏇

Whether it’s giving a new discipline ago, joining a Riding Club, team or Pony Club, competing in a new area, going for a beach ride, whatever it is give it ago. You and your horse will gain new skills and experience which will help to improve your preferred discipline.

Tip 5 – Get Involved

Take every opportunity that comes your way no matter how big or how small. Volunteering is a great way to get involved, this could be at riding club events, for local charities such as the RDA or even at a riding school. You’ll get to meet loads of like-minded people, make new friends whilst gaining experience and furthering your skills and knowledge.

My Goals for 2019

If you haven’t already set some goals for this year with your horse then set some! It’s a great way to look back and see what you’ve achieved in the year, it’s easy to forget how far you’ve come. Hope you enjoy reading some of my goals and they help you to set some☺️

  • Compete Dino in BSJA – it’s always been an aim for me to compete BSJA and I now feel that I have a horse who could potentially be successful
  • Improve my core strength – I really want to push myself this year to get the best out of my riding so I’m taking some time in my day to get fit out of the saddle
  • Try some dressage – I want to improve my flatwork so decided dressage competitions would be a good way to do this from the judges feedback
  • Get more training – I haven’t had a riding lesson since I was at college (about two years ago), so want to get more regular training so I can improve myself and my horses. I have joined a riding club so hopefully this will be a good way to get started!
