Today I thought I’d share some of my competition essentials which I never leave for a show with out. I’ll do a horses edition of this as well so be sure to look out for that.
Uniqhorse Riders Backpack
I literally love this backpack as it has so much room! There’s plenty of room and little compartments for all your competition essentials including for your riding hat and a space for your laptop if thats something you need whilst your showing.
If your interested in this product the backpacks are available in two colours black or navy and look very smart and professional.
Dreamers & Schemes Socks
As you’ve all probably realised from how much I mentioned this brand in blogs and on my Instagram I LOVE these socks! They are thin so it’s really easy to zip up your boots. The reinforced foot keeps your feet warm on those cold show mornings as well as making them extra comfy. The very top of the socks are black which is ideal if you’re in a showing class or like to look smart at shows. This stops you funky socks making an unexpected appearance in the show ring!
Hair Nets
I always compete in a hair net even if it’s Showjumping as I like to wear my hair under my helmet. My favourite hair net to do this with is the Real Women Ride hair nets as they have been designed for this! They are fantastic as they have no knot which means no more painful knots pressing into your head under your riding hat👍🏽 It’s also very quick and easy to achieve the look.
The only UK stockist for these currently is The Western Shop who are absolutely brilliant and very helpful.
Gloves
Even though I don’t always ride in gloves at home I always pack a pair or two as I like to have the option. I sometimes prefer to compete in gloves as it gives a little more grip which can make all the difference.
For showing classes I love my brown leather pair by HY Equestrian.
The rest of the time I use either a HY Equestrian pair or a Horze Crescendo pair but I love the look of the Super XC ones and Samshield 😍
Spurs/Whips
Having a pair of spurs in your show bag can be really handy especially if you sometimes use them at home. I always think it’s better to have something than not have it and find yourself needing it at a show. The same goes for a whip and even if you don’t use them you might find someone asks you if they can borrow something so by having one you can really help someone out.
A Cosy Jumper
There’s nothing better than wearing a cosy jumper pre or post show. I always find equestrian centres some of the coldest places, so wrapping up warm even in the summer is a must.
My go to jumper is The How Do You Like Those Dapples jumper from Horseplay Apparel. It’s extremely warm and the head hole is big enough you don’t even need to take your riding hat off to take your jumper off!! I was amazed when I realised this after putting my riding hat on and forgetting I hadn’t put my show jacket on.

Aztec Diamond Underwear
There’s nothing worse than a bad pair of underwear 😂 My favourite pair have got to be the Aztec Diamond ones, they are a great fit and offer you the support needed. They even come in a pack of two including a black and white pair (ideal for those white breeches).
Sticky Knee Breeches
If your yet to discover silicone breeches they are a fantastic investment! They have saved me a few times both at shows and at home😅
My favourite pairs have got to be Aztec Diamond, Montar and Spooks. All these breeches are also a really great fit and very flattering. There are so many other companies out there that sell these types of breeches so you’ll be sure to find something to suit you if the ones above don’t take your fancy.
Thank you so much for reading guys! I hope this has helped you in some way if you’ve been looking for some essentials for competition days. I really can’t live without most of these items on a show day XX
