Honest Riders have come up with a thirty day sustainability challenge for July which I’ve decided to get involved in as I am really interested in looking into some of the sustainable products out there as well as living a more eco friendly lifestyle. I also made the change to natural bar soap a month or so ago and have see a huge difference in using it compared to shower gels. My skins feels so much better and much cleaner and it’s last much longer with less waste!

From the list I have chosen the following five changes to stick to for the next thirty days.
🌍only use reusable water bottles/coffee cups
🌍Ditch the wipes and use reusable versions
🌍buy clothing from small businesses
🌍take a break from fast fashion
🌍make sustainable changes i.e, toothbrushes, deodorant, cotton wool pads, sanitary products, hand soap, ect
There are a few more on the list I am going to try keeping to as well and through out my sustainability journey I’d like to keep adding to my list of changes toll hopefully I can say I do each one that’s on the list.
🌍Day 1…
I already have a water bottle I use regularly and I have ordered myself a Bamboo toothbrush so I can make that change and plan on buying a lot more products since I have found a great website that sells all sorts of eco friendly products. The website is Eco Green Revolution for anyone who’d like to check it out.
🌍Day 2…
I’ve gone through my rubbish bag on the yard and have found so many of the packaging I’d normally throw in the bin is recyclable. I’m pleased to see the majority of that packaging was NAF products as I sware by NAF’s products. I’m going to take a trip to the recycling bins at the weekend when I’ve gathered some more recyclable waste.
Tonight I had a huge sustainable shop, as you all now me I love a good shop any day so I’ve picked up loads of really cool and fun looking products to help with the challenge. The three companies I ordered from were Eco Green Revolution, Soap Daze and Luna Landings. These are also all small business so that’s another tick✔️ for the list of changes👍🏽 I’ll share what I have bought from each once the parcels arrive📦
🌍Day 3…
Today I took the time to look at some of the care products/make up I use to see how many of them fit in with this challenge. I started using a lot of Body Shop products since the product party I went to and its good to see these are full of natural ingredients and aren’t tested on animals.
🌍Day 4…
My Bamboo toothbrush arrived this morning which I am oddly really excited to try this evening😁 Is it just me who gets really excited about the smallest and strangest things?🤷🏽♀️
I have my new toothbrush ago and I is really nice to use. It feel a lot nicer in your hand than the plastic ones and the bristles much softer. One of the most surprising things I found out about the toothbrush when reading the packaging (which was all recyclable) is that when you need a new one you can dispose of you old one in a compost heap. How neat is that. Learning loads on this journey already♻️
🌍Day 5…
My Soap Daze order arrived this morning which filled the post box with the most beautiful scents. I got two bars of soap which are lavender and orange and coffee and cacao scent. The other two items I got are a face cloth and cleansing pads which can be used instead of cotton wool pads to reduce the amount of one use items you use. They are both so soft to touch and feel really nice so I can’t wait to put it to use tonight. All the packaging Soap Daze products come in are totally recyclable ♻️

🌍Day 6…
My second parcel arrived which is from Eco Green Revolution this morning which contained a variety of items. The first thing I got was some cloth pads. I’ve been thinking about using reusable pads for a while but never took that leap into doing so but now I have and how continent is it that I started today🙄 Another item I’m real excited about is the cloth sponges called Scrubbies which I’ll be putting to the test later when I clean tack. They have the cutest unicorn design on them so what’s not to love!🦄 The final two products I ordered were a deodorant and a soap bag which you put your soap in and use it like a luffa which I thought was pretty genius but maybe it’s just me shoes easily wowed😂 Oh and I almost forgot about the Bamboo reusable nail varnish remover pads.
I got to use the Scrubbies this evening whilst I was cleaning my tack for dressage tomorrow. I was a amazed at how well it lifted the dirt and grease from the leather. I also really liked that no bits fell off it like with sponges and the tack soap didn’t sink into it as much as it would with a regular sponge.
I also used my soap bag this evening in the shower and it’s fab! Really exfoliated my skin well and created a really good foam whilst using it.
🌍Day 7…
Today we were of to some dressage so I put the no plastic water bottles and coffee cups to use. I always use my water bottle for work or show days anyway bit today I was prepared and made coffee before heading of so I could take it with me in a travel mug. I also made sure not to use any baby wipes, I think at shows we tend to grab for the easiest option but we stayed clear of baby wipes and any other kind of wipe.

🌍Day 8…
My third and final (for now) order that is going to help me out through this challenge arrived today from the awesome Luna Landings. Luna Landings sell the most beautiful washable period cloth pads, and yes they are beautiful! I bought a rather nice collection of unicorn designs cause what else would you expect😂 They sell loads of washable reusable products like make up remover pads, kitchen towel (again I had to get the unicorns 🦄) and other little items. Personally I think these cloth pads make you look forward to your period coming cause the designs are just so cute!
🌍Day 9…
After washing all my reusable cloth pads I am ready to start using them. I’ve gone with the regular flow one so let see how it goes.
I’ve worn the cloth pad for most of the day and can say they feel much more comfortable compared to the throw away ones and no leaks!
🌍Day 10…
I’m starting to work through trying all the products I got now and only have a couple left to talk about. I used the Bamboo nail polish remover pads from for the first time. I had some pink nail polish to remove which had a glitter top coat on and they worked way better than cotton wool pads do! On this journey I’ve found that the reusable products work so much better than the one use products and it’s made me think why I never tried using reusable products before. I really think hope you guys read this and try at least one of the products I’ve used or make some switches in your life style as it really is for the better!
🌍Day 23…
So I haven’t really written anything since day 10 as I had already spoken to you all about the products and my thought of them as I used them. There’s only eight days of this challenge left now so I thought it would be good to pop in and let you know how I’m doing. I’ve been finding more and more items I can take to be recycled and have even got my mum recycling and making some sustainable changes like switching to bar soaps! I have also been able to make another switch myself after heading to the local country store for some horse feed I found some biodegradable dog poop bags which were actually cheaper than the others.
🌍Day 30…
It’s the final day of this challenge so I’m taking some time to reflect on the changes I’ve made, how well I’ve stuck to these changes and if I can stick to them. These changes have been incredibly easy and I’ve found them really easy to keep. I was amazed at how easy it was to make these changes into a habit so I’m sure anyone will be able to do so even if it is just for a couple of days a week.
I’m also going to share with you all my favourite products from the switches I made so you guys can give them a try if you haven’t already.
🌍 Soap Daze coffee and raw cacao soap- this soap smells gorgeous and I love that it fills the bath room with its scent
🌍Bamboo nails polish remover pads from Eco Green Revolution- I’m a nail polish addict so being able to find a sustainable swap was brilliant. Not only are they reusable they work far better than cotton wool at removing even stubborn glitter nail polish!

🌍 Cleansing pads from Soap Daze– these little cleansing pads are fantastic for washing your face. They are gentle but also really exfoliate your skin at the same time. My skin looks cleaner and I’ve even noticed my skin is much clearer than before.
🌍Scrubbies from Eco Green Revolution– not only are these much more fun looking than an ordinary sponge I’d say they work a lot better. They are brilliant for cleaning tack and I’ve found that the rougher side is gentle enough to use on really stubborn grease build up with out damaging the leather.

🌍Luna Landings make up wipes– these are little square reusable”wipes” which are fantastic teamed with a good make up remover (I use Skin and Tonic which is vegan and cruelty free). Just a couple of skirts of make up remover on the little cloth and a full cakes face including eyeliner and waterproof mascara was gone easily!
🌍Soap pouch from Eco Green Revolution- simply put your chosen soap in this pouch and boom your ready to use in the shower or bath. The pouch is like a luffa so really exfoliates the skin and creates a foam whilst using it.
